Introduction

While biochemistry may be defined as the science that deals with the chemistry of living things, molecular biology has a broader remit in that it attempts to describe all biological phenomena in terms of molecular interactions. To fulfill these, the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of Siddheswari College started its Bachelor’s course in 2017. The Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology is committed to raise a new generation of leaders in the field of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology by driving excellence in teaching, research and community development.The faculty and staffs are highly motivated and dedicated to the delivery of quality education to the students through strict adherence to well-structured course compacts, lecture schedules, tutorials, relevant laboratory experiments .The curriculum of the Programme, lecture materials and practical manuals are regularly updated to make them current, life-applicable and adequate to address contemporary issues on methodologies, product development, scientific and technological advances in food, agriculture, medicine, and allied industries. The laboratory of the department is constantly furnished with modern scientific equipment and apparatuses. The students participate in various extra curricular activities. Many students of the Department of Biochemistry are actively working with renowned blood donation association ÔBadhanÕ. They regularly arrange blood donation campaigns on the college campus. Students also take part in various indoor and outdoor games. The course is designed in such a way that the graduated students will be able to take up various academic and research assignments. An undergraduate degree in Biochemistry can lead to a very broad range of career options and possibilities. We endeavour that our students develop a fascination and passion for science that enables them to strive for success in the scientific field
